Okay, so the next obvious branches are ActiveState vs. Strawberry/Linux and Win 7 vs. Win XP/Linux. Any takers?

#11929 First ask yourself `How would I do this without a computer?' Then have the computer do it the same way.

I got it to work (no failure) with ActivePerl under XP.
I see that in ActivePerl longdblsize=8 (but on my linux box and strawberry perl I have longdbsize=16 and 12, respectively.) I am wondering about this because of the "bus error" result.
