in reply to Limit the size of a hash

If you need to analyze the data more often than once and speed is not the main issue, but size is, put the hash in a database. Use something like select from hashtable order by limit 10;. You can fill the database with e.g. Tie::Hash::DBD and have the best of both worlds.
