Future of Padre (Windows)

jowe has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Has anybody an insight view in what the future of Padre may look like. I am particulary interested in the Windows version of it and tried without any success to build Padre under Strawberry Perl 5.18. Version 0.94 (February 2012) of Padre seems to be the only officially supported version but it does not support Git. Version 1.0 has the Git support but is not officially released.

Is it worth to wait for Padre 1.0 and when might it become available? Or is there a freestanding version of Padre which I am not aware of?

Maybe one of you could help me with your advise. Thanks for your help and best regards

Jo

This seems like a good question, but it might fail to get the attention of someone who authoritatively knows the answer.

Getting your question in front of the right set of eyes is crucial when asking questions on specific tools. Our tool here is Perl. The IDE you are discussing is written in Perl, but we're not focused on its development. You could get lucky and find someone among PerlMonks users who happens to also be focused on Padre, but that would be an intersection of the two sets, "Perl Users", and "Padre Supporters".

There may very well be a few individuals here who form that intersection, but I think it's probably better to ask the question to the people who form the correct set in the first place; http://padre.perlide.org/contact.html. On that web page they mention IRC and a mailing list as good possibilities for support.

    What did you do? :)

Try using  cpanm -f version Padre

While you can see lots of test failures http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=Padre+1.00 here, if you look at the tests, the failures are trivial (ignorable), so just ignore them

"tried without any success to build Padre"

Your last post said you'd past one problem when building it yourself, you didn't mention any more, what happened?

Update: Ignore me. Seriously though, ignore this post.
