I thought top resolutions depended on what the monitor could support.

I have chosen "Create CPAN distributions". Because I have written at least a dozen modules, probably more. OK, most of them are really specific to my firm's environment and would have little general interest, but at least 3 or 4 of them could be useful to the more general public. Except that, so far, I haven't taken the time to learn how to make a CPAN distribution.

Something else: Finally get around to fixing that old hairy piece of code that does a critical job really well but looks like a trainwreck.

Bonus achievement: Fix the documentation which is known to be inaccurate after a dozen quick fixes that made the code look even worse.

I voted 'Abandon CGI in favor of some modern web framework' because i'd really like to be able to handle all the piece of the web puzzle on my own. I lack in distribution and testing too.

Retire from the world of work so that I can have the time to get a couple of old motorbikes in my garage back on the road, a 1960 Norton ES2 500 single and a 1971 Triumph T150 Trident 750 triple :-)

    Cheers,

    JohnGG

About time too, disgraceful leaving them for so long! If you decide to stay at work you could always let me have them.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

So, what's the road to heaven paved with? Bad intentions?

you negated the wrong part of the expression, chacham! in the mythological cosmo that has heaven and hell (and puragtory too!) you need to resolve to collect good.. 'opposite of intention'

Oh yeah? Define "good" in a way that everyone will agree to. :) With some people's (or peoples') version of "good", i think i'd much rather leave off at intentions!

Definitely yes! As Woollcott said: "All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening"
The contract for that particular job is still out to tender, but the Good Intentions Paving Company has proven experience with implementing transportation infrastructure to cosomological destinations. We get you there faster!

...the majority is always wrong, and always the last to know about it...

A solution is nothing more than a clearly stated problem...

I think you meant plato instead of aristotle? ;-)

Philosophical differences aside, kudos to you for an interesting poll, Discipulus.

None... definitely, none. I would break any I make anyway.

You could make a resolution to not break your resolution. If that's your only resolution, you ought to be pretty safe.

In fact, the node originally mentioned "not to make any resolutions" as the resolution, which, on the contrary, actually breaks itself immediately.
