    You generate some interesting thought-motion.

As I saw succinctly noted in, of all places, a newsgroups post once, the ultimate authority on whether or not an answer was right is the OP. If they leave fulfilled, we succeeded. If they leave unfulfilled, we may not have (I'm really not up for a debate on social commentary and the value of leaving trolls unfed; but if an earnest seeker leaves without receiving an answer, barring special circumstances, I'm likely to call that a failure).

However, many, many times the seeker gets their answer (or gives up) and we never hear from them again. Under that circumstance, I am inclined to want to investigate the possibility of some limited ability to select the right answer for the candidate. An example of type type of limitations (by no means my specific suggestion) might be: Post Root node has seen no activity for 30 days, node can be "Considered" for promotion to "Answer" or "Part of Answer" by monks of either a certain rank or members of a certain cabal group.

As to your dilemma of tagging a million nodes, here's a thought: A cabal group for that purpose; perhaps called Ottoman Scribes? And then maybe some pmdev could craft a tool to permit members of that cabal to sign up for a certain number of nodes per day, and the system could randomly select an untagged node, that Monk could peruse the node or thread and apply some tagging. If they're not in the mood or don't have time, nothing compels them to tag anything; and they can always modify their "subscription" to increase or decrease the number of tagging pops they get hit with each day, as workload, free time, and interest dictate.

I think such a thing would be in the finest tradition of Service, and would give some of us a way to contribute more directly to the site than we are otherwise currently empowered to do.

For lack of an explicit method for designating a "solution" node or nodes, it seems the OP might immediately reply to their own post, as a placeholder for "Solutions and best responses to read after the dust settles".

Otherwise, do it in the OP as an edit. But I would prefer to reserve OP edits for clarifications and updates of missing info.

Some perl code could be written to tag the nodes probably instead of doing it by hand. Even better idea though: A Recommendation Nodelet!! A nodelet that offers other nodes to read based on what you are currently reading and vote history.
