This is not a work around as you claim. The documentation I linked to clearly states prerequisites you had not satisfied. The error thrown when trying to install tells you what file can't be found. A Google search for the error or if you don't know how to use your package management tool to search for things (of course there's documentation available to explain how to do that) would find what you needed. Nobody is born knowing this. There simply is no magic.

    If you barely know algebra2, it's hard to grok a math book where parts of it are written for those familiar with calculus.

    $PM = "Perl Monk's";
    $MCF = "Most Clueless Friar Abbot Bishop Pontiff Deacon Curate Priest";
    $nysus = $PM . ' ' . $MCF;

      I'm not sure if you're overwhelmed, but it just seems like you didn't even read the documentation to begin with, and have unreasonable expectations.

        I told you: I glanced at it, saw that it was beyond my understanding or ability to figure out, and moved on. It's basically gobbledegook to someone who has barely used a compiler before. It's not much more complicated than that.

        $PM = "Perl Monk's";
        $MCF = "Most Clueless Friar Abbot Bishop Pontiff Deacon Curate Priest";
        $nysus = $PM . ' ' . $MCF;

        Hey, I got a real hot tip for you. Quantum computer programmers are in short supply. RTFM and you'll be rolling in the money in just a few days, I'm sure. It'll be the best 65 bucks you ever spend.

        The point is, a manual is only as good as the person's ability to understand what the manual is saying. You can't hit 90 mph fast balls or even 70 mph fast balls when you can barely hit singles playing for the little league. And that's about where I'm at.

        $PM = "Perl Monk's";
        $MCF = "Most Clueless Friar Abbot Bishop Pontiff Deacon Curate Priest";
        $nysus = $PM . ' ' . $MCF;

    The workaround has worked for me. I'm not getting any more script errors about not being able to connect to the database.

    $PM = "Perl Monk's";
    $MCF = "Most Clueless Friar Abbot Bishop Pontiff Deacon Curate Priest";
    $nysus = $PM . ' ' . $MCF;

      Again, it's not a workaround, you met the prerequisites of the tool you wish to use, as specified by the documentation.
