I never owned a computer before college, but when I first got there, I took an intro class on Computer Science and I was immediately hooked. That night I charged a Dell machine (college kid with my first credit card, what can I say ;-). In the end, I used that Dell for Counterstrike more than school, but the CS lab was more quiet and didn't have CounterStrike beckoning me like my dorm room.

In an Information Retrieval class, I first realized the goodness that is known as Perl when the professor stated that we could write the projects in any language we wanted, but if we used something other than Perl, it would be slower and require at least twice as much code. (Not truthful, but he was letting us know Perl was an easier choice than most) It was at that point my laziness kicked in and I learned to love Perl.

Now out in the real world, I'm JAPH. Yet I'm getting paid to be an artist (I believe code can, and should be beautiful) and a scientist at the same time.
