You can go to a site they have some perl stuff for carts and auctions. Or get the PERL Cookbook for great information on programming structures for perl programming.

Here's a link for you: EverySoft have a free (GPL) auctioning script written in Perl. Seems to handle most things of this "flavour" of e-commerce.

I'm writing some commercial applications in perl (I write anyting in perl...).

I use the MySql database, availible from for u*x and windows platforms, apache with mod_perl and a SSL enabled apache as well.

I suggest you take a good look at the perl docs for the CGI and DBI modules, and the documentation for the database engine you use.

There is a VERY good book about apache/mod_perl from o'reilly: "Writing Apache Modules with Perl and C" by Stein & McEachern.

I would highly recommend examining mod_perl for Apache. You also might want to check out the apache SSL module.
