I think you have a pretty good idea going, however, I would have whatever is written on the whiteboard node remain permanent unless it is deleted by the user himself. After all, he is the only one that is going to see it. The only limit that I would put on it is the length of the writing on the node. That should be limited to save memory. That's just my opinion.
