I think Mandrake's install system can use either text, curses or gtk. The file might be interface.pm.
Then again...

    That is very likely going to be tailored quite closely to the needs of an installer, though. I don't know about Mandrake, but I've seen similar solutions elsewhere (Debian's DebConf f.ex), and they were very limited in scope. In that case they're also easy to implement, so no surprise there.

    Makeshifts last the longest.
