in reply to My computer broked down after perl install

People, how gullible can you be? This is obviously someone pulling your leg. 12? VB on Linux? Ramen noodles in the vents? Flames? Give me a broked.

    1. VB is installable on Linux ... anyone heard of WinE?
    2. I was programming at the ripe old age of 9 ... using Basic.
    3. I will never be surprised at the things people pull with computers. (CD Drive / Cupholder ... the pedal broken (trying to use the mouse like a foot-driver sewing machine ...)
    4. If there were ramen noodles and cat-fur in the vents, it very easily could've burst into flame.
I'm not saying the posting is true ... I'm saying it's theoretically possible.

At least the cat hair is. I had a monitor go out once due to excessive cat hair. My cat, when he was smaller, found that the monitor was a wonderfully warm place to sleep while I was on the PC. $75 later, the monitor was working again...

There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling now.

Please. I was also programming at age 9 (as were many here no doubt), and have seen a computer burn its power supply, and have run Wine. It doesn't change the fact that this is obviously a joke post.

9463xp and you're still surprised at this? I'd have thought you'd have figured it out by now...

I know this is a really old thread but someone just linked to it and I had to reply to "Flames?"

My first week on a new job (back in 2002 or 2003) my PC caught on fire over night. When I opened the case, I saw that the fire melted the network card, the CPU fan and part of the motherboard. (Probably roasted the CPU pretty good too.) Then I noticed the dust. There was an inch thick layer of dust over the entire front and back panels where the vents used to be. Everywhere else in the case had 1/4 to 1/2 inch of dust build up.

Apparently, the dust was so thick that air could no longer get in or out quickly enough. The fire consumed the available oxygen and snuffed itself out. I guess that company was pretty lucky that day. The entire office could have been destroyed had there been just a little less dust...
