I'm a 22 year-old computer programming student and I was briefly introduced to this language in class.

I really appreciate how terse and flexible the language is, though I don't know how to use it fully, yet. One of these days, I'd like to get there, though.

I have a rather unpopular viewpoint around here: I don't care how long my programs take to execute. This will definitely change when someone starts paying me to code efficiently. :)

Books I've read on Perl:

  • Web Warrior Series: CGI/Perl
  • Programming Perl

Manpages I've read:

  • strftime
  • rpm

Other stuff that I've read about:

  • NCurses
  • Apache

[stevieb]: A couple of years ago I went to Curacao on a business trip which is a few parallels south of Canary Islands, but one thing I liked was it was 90 degrees at all times consistently. Much different experience than living in Canada :)
[choroba]: Yeah, my wife sent me some pictures of the children yesterday, and there was snow all around. 10 days in Saigon and I totally forgot what weather they have back there.
