It's Alive! - Rubbercity Perl Mongers

by markmoon (Deacon)
on Jan 05, 2004 at 13:05 UTC ( #318832=perlnews: print w/ replies, xml ) Need Help??

After moving away from Portland, Oregon to Akron, Ohio I knew that I was losing a great learning resource with the mighty PDX.pm and it's motley crew of perl hackers. Since I wasn't able to find a Perl Mongers group here I joined the local Linux Users group, although I like that too, it's just not Perl so I've taken matters into my own hands.

I'm proud (and a little nervous) to announce the formation of Rubbercity.pm. Any Akron/Clevo/NE Ohio (or not) Monks who might be interested, can find out more info here:

website (until PM.org can aim the world to Rubbercity.pm):
http://www.markymoon.com/rubbercity/

mailing list sign-up:
http://www.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/rubbercity/

If there is anyone out in the Monastary who lives in or passes through this area and would like to be a speaker please... oh please! let me know.

As usual I have to thank grep for egging me on.

Its always nice to see things alive and well in my old stomping grounds :-). Haven't been to Akron in many years, but its nice to see people who are there. Good luck.

So they've sucked you back in to, eh, markmoon? I moved away from NE Ohio 18 years ago, but when my wife got pregnant with twins, we decided to head back to the homeland. I hope West coast withdrawl is not hitting you to hard.

Good luck with the PM group; let me know if there is anything I can do (I already msg'ed you indicating a willingness to give a talk).
