I'm quite worried about nodes that get frontpaged getting more reputation that those that don't, yet are more original and should warrant more praise...
Frontpaging is a positive filter, in somewhat the same way that consideration can be a negative filter. A node being frontpaged means that some (relatively) high-ranking monk has determined that the post either raises an interesting question, or makes an interesting point, or, in some cases, passes along timely news. Yes, such nodes are going to get more visibility, and hence more opportunity for votes, but so what? The goal has never been to "be fair" to those who are playing for points.
