Your scripts are 20-150k and almost all globals?
That must be a maintainance nightmare!
I would recommend (over time of course) reorganizing, using
strict, and using tightly scoped lexicals. The reduction
in debugging effort alone will make this pay back many times
over...

<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
