Login Text Fields At The Gates?

This is something that I have been wondering for a while... Why don't we want to have the username/password textfields on PM's frontpage?
They would take so little space... and users like me who login everytime (because they clean their cookies a lot :-) would not have to load a separate page.
To make it more fun, I guess it would even be possible to use the search text field for login, where something like "myusername/mypassword" would be automatically recognized as a login.
What do you think?

I think a quick nodelet on the side that only is on for Anonymous Monks. Make it a different color so that people that "Accidently" get logged off will know to log back in.

Young PerlMonk, craves Not these things.
    Use the source Luke.

Now that is the coolest idea for PM that I've heard in a while!
