perlcapt has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I'm about to head out to sea for a few months. No Internet, but I do have Linux and Perl (obviously). What I don't have is CPAN. Is there a set of CDs of a CPAN snapshot? Kinda like what came in the Perl Toolbox, I believe.

Comment on CPAN on CD or DVD

I wanted to include one with Writing Perl Modules for CPAN. We ended up not doing it for two reasons. First, it would have driven the price of the book up . Second, there's no way to do it legally without some risk. Most modules on CPAN come with a licence which permits commercial redistribution, but some don't. In fact, some come with no licence at all!
