Why not in main wrap blocks of calls in eval blocks and die when you hit errors?

[Corion]: ambrus: Yeah, I'm thinking maybe it makes sense to have two modes, "edit presentation" and "present presentation", where editing will edit /change the text, insert new slides etc., while presenting only allows drawing over stuff
[ambrus]: Corion: secretaries? Nah, those aren't for TeXing. They delegate the less important stuff like exercises to students, as homework or extra credit, and the more important stuff like writing articles or computations for research experiment to MsC students o
[Corion]: But then I think that maybe you want to have premade drawings display over your typed stuff already, so "present" would be a subset of "edit". And then I wonder whether even a subset makes sense ;)
[ambrus]: r grad students they're advising. Secretaries are useful, but not for this.
[Corion]: ambrus: I guess my profs were more oldskool that way and didn't farm out stuff except tutoring the exercises to students, but my profs were mostly theoretical mathematicians, not applied
[ambrus]: As in, high-ranking people have to coordinate a department, decide about tricky individual non-professional questions that come up, and submit proposals for grants. Secretaries are useful for helping in that.
[ambrus]: Corion: oh sure, a professor can still choose to do anything themselves if they have time and want to get it right.
[ambrus]: And most of them do write articles themselves at least.
