Larry's Interview

I just finally had a chance to sit down and listen to Larry. Wow!

Adulation seems to fall short of a proper word for the feelings I'm left with.

At Monterey my back went out. By the last day, I couldn't leave my hotel room. So I ended up renting "Mission to Mars" and room service and sulked. My back just couldn't take another session. Hearing Larry 'Live' was supposed to be the highlight of the trip for me personally, and most of the trip had to be spent on business. (I was on a a quest for an understanding of Enterprise Computing with Open Source for my employer.)

I feel vindicated for my loss at Monterey with being able to listen to this interview. I was so pleased as I heard the interviewers transformed by the quiet excitement that Larry emotes. Even more wonderful than that was the fact that my wife (A total pre-tech gal) was able to understand many of the things that I've been preaching about what the power of that Linux and Perl bring to the common man.

The bottom line is that this 40 year old fart without a formal education has a presence on the internet. I have the power to use the bandwidth as I please, not as someone has designed -- right from my home.

As DOS evolved to Windows the handwriting became clear, that the user was being denied access to the computational power of their computer. Had not GNU or FSF been there at the beginning I'd only be able to 'click buttons' and program buttons to click. That's not programming that's slavery. The debt of graditude I owe to Larry and Linus can only be understated

And there are Saints on this board as well. Thanks to all of you and we all know who you are! for being the kinda people you are. Help me to figure out how to be more like you folks, I think my ego and my pride would like that.

Ack prolly too sentimental for a bunch of beer guzzling geeks.

Anyhowsers, GREAT interview.
