For those intrigued as I was here is a link to Symbol documentation. And a brief cut'n'past from aforementioned docs ... Symbol::gensym creates an anonymous glob and returns a reference to it. Such a glob reference can be used as a file or directory handle. A search found it used to open a bunch of file handled in the days before you could do lexical file handles (see first answer in Open file issues)Cheers,
