Howdy! It's been ages since I used a format, and I don't think I've ever used tie except to play around. I'm sure there are more features that I don't use that don't leap to mind (in part because I don't use them). I do find myself agreeing with most of the recommendations in Perl Best Practices, so far, and the explanations are really helpful.
