I Was a Saint (sung to the tune of "I Will Survive")

by sauoq (Abbot)
on Nov 01, 2005 at 08:53 UTC ( [id://504549]=poem: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never reach those levels up so high
Then I spent a few minutes thinking maybe it wouldn't take so long
And I grew strong
And I resolved to play along

And so I'm no longer a Saint
I just walked in to find that where so many were they now just ain't
I would have taken that screen shot
Recorded it for posterity
If I had known for just one second it'd be gone so suddenly

Go on now, go post your reply
Just turn around now
You, demerphq, and tye
Weren't you the ones who tried to take my votes away?
Did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think you'd turn my world gray?
Oh no not I, I was a Saint
For as long as I know how to code, I know I'll be okay
I've got all my life to live
And I've got all this help to give
I'm okay
I was a Saint
Hey Hey

(I, I'll be okay)
Hey hey
(I, I'll be okay)
Every day
(I, I'll be okay)
Oh yeah

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Just trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent so many minutes just feeling sorry for myself
I wont ask why, but I will hold my head up high
And you'll see me, I will be more
Not just another maxed out monk with nothing to shoot for
And so if you have a question you need to ask please feel free
I'll be the first to answer if I can 'coz I'm whoring for XP!

Go on now, go post your reply
Just turn around now
You, demerphq, and tye
Weren't you the ones who tried to take my votes away?
Did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think you'd turn my world gray?
Oh no not I, I was a Saint
For as long as I know how to code, I know I'll be okay
I've got all my life to live

Hey Hey

(I, I'll be okay)
Hey hey
(I, I'll be okay)
Every day

(I, I'll be okay)
Oh
(I, I'll be okay)
I was a Saint
(I, I'll be okay)

(I, I was a Saint)
I've got all my help to give
(I, I was a Saint)
I've got all my life to live
(I, I was a Saint)
My coding is not in vain, oh no

(I, I was a Saint)
I'll be okay
(I, I was a Saint)
I'll be okay
(I, I Was a Saint)
Hey

† For those who don't know, the "q" is silent.

Edit: Changed title to "I Was a Saint" from "I'll Be Okay" plus minor edits. Added readmores.

And I resolved to play along

Well clearly. You’re such a shameless XP whore. :) (++)

    That rocks.

Of course, I've got the Cake version in my head instrumentally...

Sweet. Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed with the changes, too; not because of the level changes (although "Friar" does not sound as cool as "Abbot" anymore), but mostly because of the reduced number of votes. Oh well... I guess I will survive.

Very nice, ++! And if it makes you feel better, you're still a member of Saints in our Book. :)
