I am writing program to read a image file as binary or hexademical. Are there any function for doing that ?

There is PerlMagic which is very versatile and handles all known image formats: http://www.imagemagick.org/www/perl.html

If you need a small input-output routine you can use PPM image format. Simple I/O routines for this one are in my Japhoto.pl! script.

Also, I recommend the O'Reilly book:

"Programming web graphics with Perl & GNU Software"

I've read it but, unfortunately, haven't had time to play with it. The functionality though seems great. You can easily use imagemagick to manipulate images, and Perl::magick (or whatever it's called) is a simple object oriented interface for ImageMagick.

Anybody actually had a play with it?
