I disagree somewhat with the assertion that it's not possible to work from experience to theory.

When did I say that? That's been my knowledge path and I'd hardly deny it. I certainly hope I didn't imply it.

    I was referring to fergal's comment that someone familiar with theory can learn version control, etc., but "it doesn't work the other way around". Sorry, I should have directed the comment towards him.
