Not really a solution, but a suggestion for finding out what is really going on here. Try using Data::Dumper to dump your test hash. It could be that the key does not end up being what you expect it to be.

[james28909]: well, i can stream from ffmpeg to mpc-hc with udp://127.0.0.1: port. guess i just need to grab these packets and slap a rtp header on it and encrypt it with linsodium and send it.
[james28909]: in the rtp header, there is a nonce, i can just make this any number and increment it per packet?
