in reply to Install Module DBD crashes with "Cant find library"

you probably need to install clntsh, or maybe lclntsh

on debian, apt-cache search lib, apt-get whatever.

after you've installed it, it may just work.

or, you may need to edit /etc/

For more on this voodoo, see quick way to add a line to a file, if it's not already present (automating tweaking of /etc/ for installing Image::Magick)

this is about a problem I had with image::Magick, but I had the same kinds of "missing so file" stuff with mysql and oracle. bah.

see especially the "tip" I give at the end of the file, via a shell echo to the user, in case the install file somehow didn't do what it was supposed to.
