lin0 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Greetings Fellow Monks,

I am collecting references on Schools that are using Perl in their Curriculum and that have a web page. Below is the list of what I have found so far -- I just started, so do not get mad at me if your favourite School missing ;-) . If you know of any other School using Perl, please, reply to this post with the name of the School and a link to the course web page (if any).

Thank you,

lin0

Just to add to her list Deanza College http://www.deanza.edu

      CIS -033A-62 Programming in PERL

CIS -033B-61 Advanced PERL Programming (LEC)

The teacher is a bit of a pompous ass and doesn't like to help people unless they are getting A's and B's but he does know his stuff.

I took a Perl class at the University of Oregon when I was there, but it doesn't appear to be in their catalog right now.

I gave a talk yesterday on XP and Perl to final term students in BCIT's Data Communications program. The professor said that he would give the students a Perl-related assignment soon.

I don't know what you qualify as 'curriculum'. Quite a few schools offer professional development or certificate courses in technology related areas that aren't elligible for course credit in degree programs. (eg, NYU, NTU, Calstate Fullerton)

As for searching, as I've had to go through the trouble of research for a school project on who was offering courses on document / records / information management, I suggest permutations of the following:

    perl <homework|course> site:<edu|ac.uk|ca|edu.au|ac.il|...>

(google gives 61k hits on perl homework site:edu, but I haven't looked through the list to determine how many of those are courses, and how many of them are students complaining about homework)

Hi, it's a very nice thing you started here, and look at those response. BTW, would you like to share with us, what will you do with this growing list? For myself, I might use it for advocacy purpose, as a real fact for those who remain skeptical about Perl. Well, I just used my last vote for today :-)
