Congrats to Merlyn!

I just noticed up on Slashdot that our very own merlyn has had his record expunged. For those not in the know, merlyn was convicted on some sketchy charges several years back, and it's certainly a win for all programmers (especially Randal himself) that he's had his charges cleared.

You know, I've never even been to the "Perl News" section. I did think it was kind of strange that I was the "first" person to post this :P. Feel free to reap me :)

It also means you didn't bother searching. Searching is generally more effective than going to a section and browsing the titles.

There's no win here. Randal can say he's no longer a felon, but this is no statement on the law or the merits of the case. The original law still stands, and no decisions of the court have been reversed.

Merylyn's story was mentioned by "Robert X. Cringely" at Infoworld today at this link. He ends with snarky comment "Now that Schwartz is a non-felon again, maybe Intel will hire him to manage its e-mail."
