s_m_b has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I need to get Crypt::SSLeay installed, but the Winnipeg Cpan site seems to have vanished, or died. Anyone know if there is another repository?

Comment on Crypt::SSLeay - anyone know where the windows ppd might be now?

Try http://www.bribes.org/perl/ppm/Crypt-SSLeay.ppd or using PPM::Repositories? Failing that I would use Google to search for it.

    Hope this helps

    Martin
Thanks - bribes.org worked just fine - never heard of the PPm repositories list though.
NB: I did Google it, but everything was pointing back to uwinnipeg.ca!
Glad that worked for you, PPM::Repositories comes in really handy at times. Regards searching Google, since you knew that uwinnipeg.ca was down you should have used the search string:

        "Crypt-SSLeay.ppd" --uwinnipeg.ca

to eliminate results containing the text uwinnipeg.ca. Understanding how to exploit search engine features is often overlooked, but worth while knowing.

        Thanks

        Martin

Yeah, I'm getting that too, trying to reinstall it: ERROR: 500 Can't connect to theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca:80 (connect: Unknown error)

My hunch is that it's a temporary problem. I'm sure there'll be a repo carrying the module eventually.

UPDATE: PPM::Repositories is pretty wow. Never heard of it.

The server hosting the uwinnipeg repositories died over the weekend, but it's back up now.
