One of the double-edged swords that comes with maturity is the realization that you can't do it all. To make progress on the things that are really important to us, we have to first get clear on what they are, and then make the hard decision to scratch from the list some things that aren't important. Of necessity, some fun stuff goes by the wayside.

It's easy to be envious of someone who does seem to have time for all of the fun things we don't have time for. It's harder to see that they, too, had to make choices.

To make time for fun stuff, the wiser among us look for leverage. CPAN can be a lever. Humility can also be a lever. Humility allows us to seek help from others before we've spent 10 straight hours of frustrated debugging trying to get our code working to meet a deadline.
