Nautilus Workspace Question

renegadex has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I just found out that my perl programs works properly when the nautilus browser is open. (detecting changes in mtab). But I dont want the user of my program to see the nautilus browser. What I am thinking is that I will launch a nautilus browser on a different workspace. Then launch my program on a different workspace.. My question is, how do I run nautilus on a different workspace?? I can run nautilus using the system('nautilus') command. But I do not know how to move it to another workspace.. Or is there a way to run nautilus in the background?

Perlmonks is not a substitute for nautilus (or "workspace") manual
