A better term than "DarkPAN"?

by Cody Pendant (Prior)

I'm a bit tired of the word/meme "DarkPAN".

Can we not somehow get a better acronym which makes it into "BedPAN"?

Below Event-horizon Distributions?

I'm just saying.

Nobody says perl looks like line-noise any more
kids today don't know what line-noise IS ...

I like "DarkPAN", it's a bit like dark matter in astronomy/cosmology: We don't know exactly how much there is out there, how it looks and if our explanations for it actually match reality.

Of course we might have to look for a better name once the scientist provide some solid information about dark matter.

And if there isn't enough DarkPAN, then the Perl universe doesn't have enough mass to keep itself from flying apart.

Like you, I quite like DarkPAN but, unlike dark matter, wonder how it's existence can be inferred from external phenomena ?

      Update:

Of course !!! Now why didn't I think of it earlier ?

We can infer it from implications contained in not infrequent postings on this and other, perl sites...

A user level that continues to overstate my experience :-))

Perhaps a "Secretly And Uneventfully Curing Emergencies"PAN? Or maybe a trip to "Temporarily And Interminably"PAN. And there's always the "Internal Neutralization of Struggles"PAN.

Or even a "Personal Ailment Neutralization"PAN.

    You ASCII'd for it...

Combining the fact that the existence of this code is only mentioned when changing its dependencies could get somebody in trouble, the distinct possibility that actually sharing some of this code with the public could get somebody in trouble, and the fact that I just don't take it very seriously, the following occurs to me:

    LOLPAN
Limitation Of Liability Perl Archive Network

Meh. I'll probably just keep calling it "annoying code that causes me to hate some person I never even met that worked here ten years ago." It might be more wordy, but it's also more accurate.

Edit: Also, I'd hate to steal a beautiful potential resource from the LOLCODE community.
