You can install Ubuntu into a file on the Windows filesytem (See [http://wubi-installer.org/|Wubi]). No need to create an extra partition.<br/><br/>This will also not overwrite the Windows-Bootloader (as GRUB et al. do) but use the Windows-Bootloader to start Ubuntu.

Btw, does anyone know what happened to the "Linux In a Window" (under Windows) that i recall from the day of Win98?
