Problem installing module through cpan on Windows ActivePerl

sagarkha has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have done the proxy setting on the cpan using these commands, still i am not able to install modules

o conf http_proxy http://192.168.64.1:80
o conf proxy_user XYZ
o conf proxy_pass ****
o conf commit

Exit cpan. Run PPM from the command prompt and type: `install mingw` This will install everything you should need. Exit PPM and restart cpan.	[reply] [d/l]

When i type PPM from command promt, it opens a seperate PPM window and 'install mingw' doesnt work there...	[reply]

If you're running the 64bit version ActiveState don't provide MinGW: http://code.activestate.com/ppm/MinGW/. You can either install it yourself (Super Search) or use Strawberry Perl which ships with such things as standard, regardless of architecture. If you're not running 64bit ActiveState then you're going to have to provide more information, How do I post a question effectively?.	[reply]

You don't need mingw or anything else. just run this in your cmd windows: `ppm install Net-Netmask` and you're done.	[reply] [d/l]

There is no module Net::Netmas, there Net::Netmask. Either try other PPM repositories (see PPM::Repositories) or install via cpan: `cpan Net::Netmask` [download]	[reply] [d/l]
