daniell has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi, I'm trying to use `perl -MCPAN -e shell;` The autoconfiguration didn't work; it was unable to come up with a urllist. My manual configuration also doesn't work since I'm running into trouble when it asks for a contient Finally I figured I'd just add a urllist to the .cpan/CPAN/MyConfig.pm, but then I realized I didn't know what urls it was looking for. Could someone clarify at least the last part for me? Here's what my interactive CPAN run looks like:
We have to reconfigure CPAN.pm due to following uninitialized parameters: urllist /net/one/home1/red/dlamblin/.cpan/CPAN/MyConfig.pm initialized. CPAN is the world-wide archive [.. spare details ...] First, pick a nearby continent and country (you can pick several of each, separated by spaces, or none if you just want to keep your existing selections). Then, you will be presented with a list of URLs of CPAN mirrors in the countries you selected, along with previously selected URLs. Select some of those URLs, or just keep the old list. Finally, you will be prompted for any extra URLs -- file:, ftp:, or http: -- that host a CPAN mirror. Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] North America invalid items entered, try again Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] north america invalid items entered, try again Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] Europe invalid items entered, try again Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] Africa invalid items entered, try again Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] Asia invalid items entered, try again
This isn't normal behavior is it? and no I don't have ncftp and I want to get Net::FTP. Also I realize there's other ways to install a mod, I was just hoping this should work.

Running 'o conf init' from a CPAN shell here gives me the following continent options:
First, pick a nearby continent and country (you can pick several of each, separated by spaces, or none if you just want to keep your existing selections). (1) Africa (2) Asia (3) Central America (4) Europe (5) North America (6) Oceania (7) South America
Choosing North America, I get the following country options:
    (1) Canada (2) Mexico (3) United States

Make sure you type the number of the selection, and not the name of the continent...
