I would use Log::Log4perl::MDC at the beginning of each request to set a tag that identifies the particular app that request is serving. Then you can filter your log files by app.

See http://search.cpan.org/~mschilli/Log-Log4perl/lib/Log/Log4perl/MDC.pm for an example of how to use it.

EDIT: Of course, this doesn't give you the multiple l4p objects per request you are asking for.
