Personally I prefer if someone just states:
I have this HW assignment and I need help.
This makes us all look good! The author shows that they are trying to learn but
may be really having difficulty. And they don't think we are so stupid that they
can pass their HW off to us without us realizing it.
If someone is upfront like this and takes the hints we suggest then I think it
would be better that we make sure they have all the resources to complete
by footpad, ~
