I down voted this reply.

This shows a lack of respect for the original poster. How do you know he's not really 12? Do you now have the power to see everything as it really is? I concede that he (or she) may be confused about operating systems, perl, and that this question was not really relevent to perl.

This does not mean that we can not be polite and helpful. Shame on all of you who made fun of the poster.
