That's what I mean : when you preview the question, if you post the same title as a previously submitted node, it instead prompts you with something like :

Your suggested node title : 'CGI Question' matched the following existing nodes. Maybe one of the monks has already answered a question just like yours!

  • CGI Question by koacamper(type: perlquestion)
  • CGI question by Gibble(type: perlquestion)
  • CGI Question by kelcey(type: perlquestion)
if it doesn't, click preview again to really preview your question.
see? or you could do some twiddling to match " Question" or subtypes of the question

In reply to Re: Re: Cut down on the FAQ (Adam: Have you tried these nodes?) by boo_radley
in thread Cut down on the FAQs, Jack, by searching for code before you post that node. BR(Serious Title : Searching for matching node titles reduces redundancy) by boo_radley

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Posts are HTML formatted. Put <p> </p> tags around your paragraphs. Put <code> </code> tags around your code and data!
  • Titles consisting of a single word are discouraged, and in most cases are disallowed outright.
  • Read Where should I post X? if you're not absolutely sure you're posting in the right place.
  • Please read these before you post! —
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags:
    a, abbr, b, big, blockquote, br, caption, center, col, colgroup, dd, del, div, dl, dt, em, font, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, hr, i, ins, li, ol, p, pre, readmore, small, span, spoiler, strike, strong, sub, sup, table, tbody, td, tfoot, th, thead, tr, tt, u, ul, wbr
  • You may need to use entities for some characters, as follows. (Exception: Within code tags, you can put the characters literally.)
            For:     Use:
    & &amp;
    < &lt;
    > &gt;
    [ &#91;

    [LanX]: Hollywood is built on stereotypes which sell, this includes stereotypes about English, French, russians and ... Americans
    [Your Mother]: I think to some degree, maybe a large one, the stereotypes are purely products OF Hollywood and not what would sell best.
    [LanX]: well those products which sold best are replicated
    [Your Mother]: They get almost everything wrong on every level. I think they create and restrict the market and fundamentally misunderstand audiences.
    [Your Mother]: Consider how long, for example, superhero movies were kept at bay because they weren't commercially viable. They always were, just Hollywood couldn't see it or understand how to make one because there is no management talent in the town.
    [LanX]: Erich von Strohheim built his career on beeing the most hated guy (The man you love to hate)
    [Your Mother]: You see these amazing set, costumes, performances, etc, etc, etc all ruined by production and script decisions from the top down.
    [LanX]: well ... the traget audiance is 15-25
    [LanX]: spend one weekend in bed and TV showed me 3 remakes of 80s classics
    [Your Mother]: Yep. Publish or die. Content be damned.
