personally, I find the temptation to treat the chatterbox like IRC pretty hard to resist. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a #perlmonks channel on some server somewhere? And if there is, that perhaps that could be better advertised?
I suppose there's an accessibility issue with IRC (i.e. you need something other than just a web browser to use it; but then, that's already the case with the chatterbox clients)
Surely the collective we is not so opposed to, say, a java client accessible through a webpage that having a channel like that wouldn't be feasible.
