So the basic premise of the spy game is this: In addition to being whatever you are normally, you are now a member of an espionoge ring also operating underground research. Your ring is competing with other rings to protect its secrets and eliminate or assimilate the others.
Faction leaders are selected at the first meeting of all players when everyone is given a sealed envelope marked top secret. 3 have dead-drop instructions so faction leaders can drop off initial orders to be handed out to faction members at a meeting a week from then and remain anonymous. This is done to keep the faction leaders anonymous.
Each faction sets up a lab and a headquarters, between which there must be regular communication. At the lab there is a prototype, at the hq the faction papers.
A faction is eliminated when 2 of 3 things occur:
- Its lab is compromised (destroyed, revealed, etc.)
- Its hq is compromised (same as lab)
- Its leader is compromised. Death is not compromised if a succession system is set up, but if a double agent succeeds or if the leader gets replaced by someone not of that faction
