I have noticed that a number of monks, myself included, keep a section in their homenodes devoted to quips and jokes sprouted by users in the CB or in nodes around the Monastery. A few weeks ago I idly suggested creating a file of such jokes and illuminations, for use with the *nix program fortune, and I received some interest from other monks who were keen on this idea.

But I am aware that there are issues surrounding the nature of what is said in the Chatterbox, and that some monks may be less than happy to have "throwaway" remarks recorded in such a manner, and others may be concerned about things being taken out of context. Indeed the subject has been debated several times before:

Therefore before I even begin to accept submissions, I would like to guage monk opinion on whether this should be implemented at all, and if so, how should this be done? Personally I would like to make available the option for each individual monk to be able to "opt-out" of this if they do not wish for anything they say to be made available in this manner, but if this idea is met with a lot of strong opinion against then I will forget the whole thing.
