Public answers to public questions also benefit those who haven't asked the question yet, or who haven't articulated the question, or who haven't dared to ask it for fear of being embarassed in public. So quite often a public answer carries an implied "Maybe you want only your specific question answered, but others reading along might benefit from hearing more."

It helps to make the implied part explicit now and then.
