in reply to Writing answers for newbie questions

-- for a correct answer? I don't think so. I have --'d for rude answers, but that's different. On the other hand, I respect an answer more, that shows the journey as well as the destination.

Update: To expand on my first point, if a newbie sees an answer that is correct with a low or even a negative rep, that may steer them wrong.
If you don't like an answer due to it's brevity, write a node that explains the concept, but to -- a node just because they didn't show their work is wrong IMO.

That said, I think it's a good idea for people to explain their answers.
