Yes, the picture above was my dog, Hans... and yes, he was as awesome as he looks.

I'm an Electronics Engineer, mostly for analog hardware, so for me writing code has always just been a supplementary skill to make my work easier. After making it the better part of a decade in to my career without coding much of anything, I learned this wonderful thing called Perl. I learned it because I was trying to automate a lot of the mundane out of my own job and possibly the jobs of my immediate colleagues. This effort was so successful that it blossomed in to automating a lot of other things outside of my own department, some data analytics, and a flurry of other random tasks.

I once wrote a Perl Poetry post that I'm proud of. Hubris and all that, you know. :-)
