<p>The truth is that at <b>that</b> time, there was only the one Perl. A Perl that many agreed on, had issues (at least <a href="https://perl6.org/archive/rfc/">361</a> of them). And many people in the <b>Perl</b> community liked the idea of fixing those problems. Of which you were also a part as an <a href="https://lwn.net/Articles/537621/">early Perl 6 enthusiast</a>. I don't think anybody needed to be tricked at the time. And that's the truth. Why fear <b>that</b>?</p>
