Educated at Eton in the UK, and King's College, Cambridge, as a social anthropologist; joined IBM UK in 1959 - first computer was an IBM 650. Moved with IBM to the US and then to Canada, eventually landing up in Toronto. Still working (as of 2002), mostly maintaining legacy code, although I have done a year of Java.
Wrote "Flow-Based Programming: A New Approach to Application Development" (van Nostrand Reinhold, 1994).
