How to insert data into MS word document

schetchik has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello.

I have a MS Word document. And I want replace some data in the document to special values. What is the best way to do it? Now, I save document like xml and then I process it like text file. But I suspect it isn't optimal way. And I have some troubles, because my template tool use tags, bat MS word escapes it :)
