    ... and you don't even need the '+' on the  += operator:

    >perl -wMstrict -lE "my $s = 'abababa'; my $t = 'aba'; ;; my $c = map /(?=$t)/g, qw(abababa ababa); say $c; " 5
      and you don't even need the '+' on the += operator:
