While it technically doesn't identify a person, the GDPR considers IP addresses personally identifiable, and I imagine PerlMonks does log IP addresses. It could potentially apply to these. (Specifically, I'm not going to try to interpret if it falls in a criteria listed under "When does the right to erasure apply?")

There are some legal obligations to log IP addresses.

GDPR is more about "forgetting" private data related to marketing or "shared with" other companies.

None of these is the case here.

To be more explicit:

• I won't get hotel and flight offers into my mailbox after /msging another monk about meeting in Riga.
• No headhunter will call me after reaching sainthood.
• Other websites won't suddenly start to show me ads about IT books because I created an account here.
